The iconic Scenic World at the Blue Mountains, a family-owned tourist attraction located in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia, about 100 kilometres west of Sydney, and home to four attractions – the Scenic Railway, the Skyway, the Boardwalk and the Cable Car, a 2.4 km-high wooden walkway through ancient rainforest – recently announced its induction into the Australian Ecotourism Hall of Fame for 20 years as an accredited operator.
Since 1945, Scenic World has been welcoming visitors with open arms to its corner of the Blue Mountains, and this presentation is a tribute to the work it has done around sustainability since its inception.
Additionally, thanks to its services as a tourist attraction, Scenic World has also achieved carbon neutrality certification. The Climate Active certification indicates that Scenic World has made choices and adjustments in the way experiences are delivered to ensure that all carbon emissions are accounted for and balanced.
This demonstrates the fact that visitors can have a lot of fun and frolic without causing any CO2 emissions when riding the world’s steepest railway, the famous Skyway, the steepest cable car in the Southern Hemisphere, and walking under the canopy of the rainforest.
