Renowned as a pioneer of Indian DJ music, Akbar Sami first made his mark as a choreographer before transitioning into a popular DJ and musician. From remix albums like Jalwa, Jalwa 2 and Jadu featuring popular tracks like Rati Pakhi, Dhgala Lagli Kal and Om Shanti Om, to winning awards like the All-Asian DJ Championship and the Best Indian Club DJ by Channel (V), Sami’s performances have captivated audiences across the globe.
Starting his journey as a dancer for a cast of Bollywood stars at the age of just 13, Sami’s DJ career took off when he worked at a nightclub and soon became a resident DJ at Xanadu. After honing his craft with an intensive DJ training course in London, he collaborated with Himesh Reshammiya in the 80s, remixing several songs. Apart from DJing, Sami has explored acting, most notably in the 2015 film ‘Faattu Sala’, and ventured into singing with the 2018 remake of the Bollywood classic ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, showcasing his multi-faceted talent.
