Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2024, held from June 5 to 7 in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, has made a significant impact on the Thai economy. Based on survey responses from attendees, including buyers and sellers, the event is expected to generate 4,428.98 million baht.
Thailand celebrated its 21st edition under the theme “Incredible Thailand: Your Stories Never End.” This year’s event highlighted Thailand’s dedication to promoting high-value and sustainable tourism. It also aligns with the government’s vision of “Ignite Tourism Thailand,” focusing on boosting the country’s tourism sector through unique and environmentally conscious travel experiences.
Ms. Thapani Kiatphaipul, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said: “Buyer and seller response to the TTM+ 2024 survey showed results that exceeded almost all set targets. The performance confirms confidence in Thailand as a preferred tourism destination.”
TTM+ 2024: A great success in participation and sustainable initiatives
Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2024 saw a huge turnout, with 418 buyers from 50 countries and 430 sellers from Thailand participating, exceeding the initial target of 150 participants each. The event also attracted more than 100 media representatives, both Thai and international.
During the event, 14,792 business appointments were held between buyers and sellers, significantly exceeding the target of 3,500 appointments. Survey responses from 57% of sellers indicated that they conducted a total of 12,729 appointments, with an average of 29.6 appointments per seller. Of these appointments, approximately 59.6%, or 7,585.89 appointments, resulted in secured sales opportunities.
These sales opportunities are expected to translate into 92,472 visitors arriving in Thailand, generating an economic impact of 4,428.98 million baht. This estimate is based on an average stay of 9.26 days and an average daily expenditure of 5,172.29 baht per visitor.
In line with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s commitment to sustainability and zero-waste tourism, the Zero Waste to Landfill initiative included the Zero Waste to Landfill initiative. These efforts diverted 2,701.4 kg of waste from landfills, reducing global greenhouse gas emissions by 1,139.67 kg of carbon, equivalent to absorbing 126.63 trees of carbon dioxide annually. In addition, the project included food donations to local communities in Phang Nga.
In the future, TTM+ 2025 will be hosted in Chiang Mai next June, continuing the momentum of promoting Thailand as a leading travel destination and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
