Enjoy 28 Business Class seats on board Qantas’ A330-300 aircraft during your flight to Hong Kong.
As Qantas celebrates its 75th anniversary of flying to Hong Kong, passenger stays are increasing month after month, reflecting the destination’s growing appeal.
In a unique event hosted by Qantas and the Hong Kong Tourism Board at the Hong Kong Business Class Lounge, Carrion explored how travel has evolved since Qantas’ inaugural flight – a 20-hour journey from Sydney to the iconic Kai Tak Airport with just 40 passengers on a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster.
Modern travellers enjoy a different kind of luxury when flying from Sydney to Hong Kong International Airport in Business Class.
Comfort and planning
The A330-300 Business Class features a 1-2-1 seating configuration, which combines aisle access with window privacy. I’m sitting in seat 1A, the coveted front left seat, which alternates between aisle and window for added privacy. Passengers can choose seats A and K in alternating rows for direct window access and extra seclusion.
Each 23-inch-wide seat converts to an 80-inch-wide fully flat bed with adjustable seating positions, lumbar support and a footrest. It also offers a back massage feature. The console next to my seat has an array of amenities, noise-canceling headphones and a water bottle, along with an extendable tray and personal lighting, along with USB ports and an AC adapter.
During this 9 hour and 40 minute daily journey, pajamas are available upon request, perfect for relaxing and sleeping.
Services and facilities
Joanna, the customer service manager, carefully serves drinks before takeoff, including Champagne Jacquart’ Brut Mosaïque. Announcements cover flight details and the language skills of the cabin crew, and landing passes are distributed well in advance.
Entertainment options
The inflight system features more than 2,500 hours of entertainment on a 16-inch HD touchscreen, including a “Watch with a Friend” feature and an “In-Seat Chat” feature to send messages to your travel companions. Enjoy a variety of shows, including “The Regime” starring Kate Winslet and “A Gentleman in Moscow” starring Ewan McGregor.
Qantas is set to offer fast, free Wi-Fi on international flights, starting with its Airbus A330s on the Sydney-Hong Kong route next year.
Delicious dishes
Chef Neil Perry’s menu offers a Hong Kong culinary experience with dishes such as prawns, kimchi dumplings and grilled fish. Drinks range from signature cocktails to international spirits and wines. For dessert, praline panna cotta provides a satisfying end to the meal.
Two hours before landing, a meal of spicy tiger prawns or angel hair pasta is served, providing the final taste of indulgence.
Pajamas and Amenities Set
Qantas pyjamas, including limited edition sets, are a highlight of the flight, along with a Koskela amenity kit featuring skincare products from Le Tia.
Loyalty benefits
Qantas’ frequent flyer programme offers a wide range of rewards, from flight points to shopping benefits, with points and status credits varying by class of flight.
