Tourism Malaysia has launched a B2B workshop as part of a three-day, two-night familiarization trip to explore Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. The event promotes the concept of twin-city holidays in Malaysia.
The workshop was held at Zenith Hotel in Putrajaya, where 14 travel agents from Singapore participated with over 40 local stakeholders including travel agents, tourism product owners and hotel operators from the two cities.
The session sparked the formation of new business collaborations, renewal of existing contracts, upgrading of tourism products, and the formulation of attractive travel packages tailored specifically for Singaporean tourists. It also provided attendees with the opportunity to experience the latest tourism offerings first-hand.
Mr Lee Tai Hong, Deputy Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, welcomed the participants. He expressed optimism about the fruitful discussions and collaborations expected to unfold during the session, with the aim of building strong business relationships and developing unique travel packages for Singaporean visitors.
The programme will continue with a series of educational activities in both cities. These include a boat ride on Putrajaya Lake, tours of newly opened hotels, a visit to Merdeka 118 Observation Deck, an exploration of the Broga Orchard Hills, and a trip through Kampung Baru, the last remaining traditional village in central Kuala Lumpur. In addition, participants will learn about Malaysia’s popular medical tourism sector during a visit to Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, organised by the Malaysian Health Travel Council (MHTC).
Malaysia remains a leading destination for Singaporean travellers, welcoming 8.3 million visitors from Singapore in 2023. Malaysia is poised for significant growth with a target of attracting 27.3 million tourists and generating RM102.7 billion in revenue in 2024. The upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign is set to build on this momentum, targeting 35.6 million international tourists and RM147.1 billion in tourism receipts.
