There is a major change in operations at the Ashley Centre in Epsom. Surrey’s leading shopping destination has appointed Lonson Méchanical to join centre owner GCW to lead retail leasing and food and beverage.
They have been appointed to drive the Ashley Centre’s rapidly expanding retail and leasing strategy, and “draw on their extensive collective experience and sector knowledge”, will work not only on the centre’s £7m refurbishment, but also on the upcoming arrival of a Primark store.
The retail giant will open its store in 2025, occupying 44,000 sq ft of the former House of Fraser space, adjacent to the scheme’s central plaza close to newcomers JD Sports and shoe giant Deichmann.
The aim is to “focus on further enhancing the tenant mix and enhancing the offering to Epsom’s growing consumer base”.
“The Ashley Centre is a fantastic new learning experience for us,” said William Hooper, Principal at Lawson Michenal. “The recent investment from the owner has taken the centre to new heights and we look forward to attracting more aspirational brands and new concepts that are in line with the affluent residential catchment area.”
The Ashley Centre renovation is due to be completed in the coming months, with improvements to the interior design and a rebuild of the centre’s east entrance, “creating a fresh, modern look for visitors”.
