Norse Atlantic celebrates a groundbreaking flight from Norway to Darwin, Australia, operated by Albastar SA and facilitated by Aircontact, Scandinavia’s leading charter agent. This groundbreaking project marks the first direct flight connecting Norway and Australia, and showcases the capabilities of the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner and the expertise of Norse Atlantic’s charter team.
The flight began at Oslo Gardermoen Airport at 6:30 a.m. on August 3, and arrived at Darwin International Airport at 6:00 a.m. on August 4. The flight covered approximately 14,730 kilometers over 16.5 hours, and highlighted the Dreamliner’s long-range capabilities and its environmentally friendly, passenger-focused design.
“Completing this first-of-its-kind charter flight between Norway and Darwin is a testament to our commitment to consistently delivering excellent service to our charter customers. The Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner is the ideal aircraft for ultra-long-haul flights and we are proud to demonstrate its capabilities on this historic route,” he said. Mette BirkedalCharter Director and ACMI Norse Atlantic Airways.
This achievement reflects Nors Atlantic Airways’ commitment to global expansion and exceptional customer service, as well as its pursuit of innovative charter solutions using its advanced fleet.
Boeing 787-900 salient features:
- Superior range and efficiency: The Boeing 787-900 has the ability to fly up to 15,400 kilometers, and combines advanced aerodynamics and lightweight materials to enhance fuel efficiency, setting a new standard in its class.
- Enhanced Comfort: The aircraft design includes larger windows, improved cabin pressure, and increased humidity, all of which reduce flight fatigue and improve overall passenger comfort. Quieter engines contribute to a quieter travel experience.
- Environmental Commitment: The Dreamliner reduces CO2 emissions by 25% compared to older models, supporting Norris Atlantic’s sustainability goals.
- Advanced Technology: Equipped with the latest electronics and safety features, the Boeing 787-900 maintains high operational reliability, ensuring consistent and timely service for Norris Atlantic’s charter operations.
Furthermore, Norse Atlantic was last year recognised for its exceptional charter capabilities, including landing a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a blue ice runway at Troll Airport in Antarctica, on a mission for the Norwegian Arctic Institute. This achievement, also brokered by AirContact, underlined the company’s ability to manage complex and demanding charter flights.
