South Lodge, a charming country hotel, is delighted to unveil The Reeds, a collection of eight lakeside lodges set within the estate’s 93-acre grounds in the picturesque West Sussex countryside. Inspired by the principles of biophilic architecture and named after the flora and fauna of the lakeside, these lodges offer guests the opportunity to connect with nature and experience its healing properties.
Set along the edge of South Lodge’s natural swimming lake and accessed via a scenic woodland path, the six lakeside lodges feature two bedrooms, an open-plan living area and a range of modern amenities. With double-height glass ceilings, each lodge seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces, offering stunning views from private terraces that flood the interior with natural light, fostering a deep connection to the surrounding environment.
Located a short distance from the lake, these two spas are designed to relax and rejuvenate, making them ideal for couples looking for a quiet escape in the Sussex countryside. Featuring luxurious amenities such as steam showers, outdoor Jacuzzis and an infrared halotherapy sauna, they all aim to enhance wellbeing by improving sleep, detoxifying and relieving muscle and joint pain.
Designed using materials that reflect the natural beauty of the West Sussex landscape, the lodges incorporate elements of the outdoors into their design, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. In keeping with Exclusive Collection’s commitment to sustainability as a certified B Corp organisation, the lodges are built using innovative, recycled, locally sourced or naturally derived materials that respect the surrounding ecosystem.
“We are very proud to open The Reeds at South Lodge,” he said. Danny Pecorelli, Managing Director of Exclusive Collection“Our aim is to provide guests with a luxurious, sustainable retreat in line with our B Corp certification, where they can relax, rejuvenate and connect with the stunning natural surroundings of West Sussex.”
The lake at The Reds will add a unique touch of artistic heritage and natural beauty, featuring water lilies sourced exclusively from Monet’s famous garden in Giverny. This will be the only location outside of France to showcase these lilies, which symbolize peace and purity, offering guests a contemplative and tranquil experience in the heart of nature.
To take in the natural beauty of the area, The Reeds offers guided wilderness swimming sessions in the lake, giving guests the opportunity to experience the rejuvenating power of nature first-hand. Guests staying at the lodge will also enjoy access to South Lodge’s award-winning facilities, including an expansive 44,000 sq ft spa and three exceptional restaurants, including the Michelin-starred The Pass. For those who wish to dine in the comfort of their lodge or enjoy a picnic on the grounds, breakfast and cold meat baskets filled with local Sussex produce, homemade granola, fresh breads and pastries and locally sourced meats are available, along with the daily option to collect fresh eggs from the hotel’s free-roaming chickens.
Prices start from £1,200 per night for Lakeside Lodge and £1,400 per night for Spa Lodge.
