AirAsia X (AAX), with flight code D7, is making significant strides in recovery by resuming the Kuala Lumpur-Chongqing route, a service that was first launched in 2015. From October 15, 2024, AirAsia X (AAX) will operate four weekly flights on this route, expanding its presence in China.
With the addition of Chongqing, AirAsia X will offer flights to nine destinations across China, including Changsha, Xi’an and Chengdu (Tianfu), with a total of 53 flights per week. This represents a major expansion of the airline’s network in the region.
To celebrate the resumption of service, AAX is offering special promotional fares to Chongqing starting from RM339 including all one-way flights. These promotional fares are available for booking on AirAsia MOVE (formerly airasia Superapp) and airasia.com until 11 August 2024, for travel between 15 October 2024 and 28 March 2025. Malaysian travellers can enjoy visa-free entry to China for up to 15 days until the end of 2025, while Chinese nationals can travel to Malaysia visa-free for 30 days until 31 December 2026.
Chongqing, the world’s largest municipality with a population of about 32 million, is known as the “Mountain City” due to its mountainous terrain and often being covered in a thin layer of fog, earning it the nickname “Fog City.” Visitors to Chongqing can enjoy the scenic views along the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, experience the unique Lizba House Crossing Metro, and enjoy Chongqing’s famous spicy hot pot.
Travellers looking for natural beauty and delicious cuisine will find Chongqing a must-visit destination. With the resumption of this route, AirAsia X continues to enhance connectivity and provide travellers with more opportunities to explore this enchanting city.
