I recently had the opportunity to experience Alaska Airlines first class for the first time, and it was an absolutely amazing experience.
From plush seats and generous legroom to priority boarding at check-in, the perks were amazing. Here’s why you’ll definitely want to try them out:
Alaska Airlines’ first class features the most legroom of any U.S. domestic airline. From the moment I settled into my seat, I was amazed by the spaciousness and generous recline. The custom-designed, 41-inch-long Recaro leather seats provide unparalleled comfort. Features like footrests, tablet holders, and conveniently placed cup holders add a touch of luxury to the flight.
The level of care was truly exceptional. From the warm welcome from the flight attendants to the total comfort of my seat, every detail was taken care of. The view from first class was breathtaking, with sights such as Mount Rainier adding to the experience. A dedicated first class flight attendant was always nearby, taking care of everything from storing coats to serving refreshments, making the flight incredibly comfortable.
Enjoy fresh, local cuisine at your seat. Shortly after takeoff, the flight attendants served up delicious meals and specialty drinks, explaining each option in detail. My drink arrived in a glass, and the presentation of the meal was impressive—well-seasoned chicken, a side salad, and warm bread. It was the best food I’ve ever had on an airplane. Guests can pre-order meals up to 20 hours in advance of flights of more than 670 miles, featuring a range of West Coast-inspired dishes and complimentary beverages.
Communication has never been better. Alaska Airlines has upgraded its aircraft to satellite Wi-Fi, which is 20 times faster than the previous service — and the difference is noticeable. I was able to stream movies and TV shows seamlessly, and I stayed in touch with my friends from takeoff to landing without interruption. All for just $8!
Access to the First Class lounge is another perk. While I didn’t get to visit one of Alaska’s amazing lounges (the one at San Francisco is particularly impressive), I did find that if you’re flying on a paid First Class or First Class Award ticket* for flights with no more than 2,000 miles on any part of the journey, you can purchase a single discounted lounge pass for $30**.
After four hours of luxury, I felt refreshed and ready to get on with my day after stepping off the plane, having experienced the best of Alaska Airlines first class. It is the perfect first class.
