Southwest Airlines expands its booking options by listing fares on Kayakrepresenting an important step in the company’s ongoing business development.
Southwest Airlines has taken another step in Business development By making their trips available for booking on Kayak.
“This is a great development for travelers.” “We are delighted to partner with Kayak to create this exciting new product,” Kayak CEO Steve Hafner said in a statement. “We began offering Southwest for the first time in 2022 to Kayak for Business customers. We are excited to expand this relationship to the millions of leisure travelers who use Kayak.”
Southwest Airlines, which has long required customers to book directly through its website, began making the switch in May to allow its flight itineraries to appear on Google Flights. The change comes as the airline faces pressure from investors to bolster its competitive position against other major U.S. carriers, prompting it to make plans for a major overhaul of its business strategy.
In addition to expanding its price visibility, Southwest Airlines announced last month that it would end its open-seat policy. The airline plans to implement a dedicated seating system and offer a more segmented cabin, featuring seats with more legroom. However, a timeline for these changes has not yet been revealed.
Southwest Airlines, once a Wall Street favorite because of its consistent profitability, has recently been lagging behind some of its rivals. That lag has led to pressure from shareholders, including activist investor Elliott Management.
