The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Group companies, Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited (APPL) and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), to boost tourism in the state. The agreement was signed at a ceremony held in Guwahati on Saturday.
As part of this MoU, Taj Resort & Spa will be developed at an investment of INR 120 crore. APPL, in partnership with IHCL, will focus on building modern hotel and hospitality infrastructure in Kaziranga. Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) will act as the nodal agency for the project on behalf of the Government of Assam.
During the signing ceremony, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma He expressed his gratitude to the Tata Group for collaborating with the state government to promote eco-tourism. He asserted that this initiative will provide a huge boost to the tourism sector in the state. The project is expected to create over 200 direct employment opportunities and enhance the luxury hospitality experience in Kaziranga.
The Prime Minister described the day as a milestone in the history of Assam, noting the inauguration of two major projects: the foundation stone laying ceremony for a semiconductor unit at Jagirud and the MoU for a five-star hotel at Kaziranga. He believes these developments will help transform the growth of the state.
