Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island proudly unveiled the first phase of its comprehensive renovation program on July 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony themed “Find the Light.” The event showcased the resort’s 340 newly redesigned guest rooms, each inspired by the island’s natural beauty. These rooms now feature stylish upgrades and improvements, providing a serene and elegant setting for guests seeking a picturesque island escape.

Cosgrove, along with hotel leadership and local dignitaries, including Bill Miles, chairman of the Hilton Head Island VCB Board of Directors, and David Ames, interim mayor of Hilton Head Island, celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event included speeches, entertainment by a DJ, food and refreshments around a branded ice sculpture and tours of the property.
The first phase of the comprehensive project, which began in December 2023, will transform 340 guest rooms. The redesign includes a soothing color palette that reflects the serene atmosphere of Hilton Head Island. Each room now features renovated bathrooms, luxurious bedding, coastal-inspired furnishings, flat-screen LCD TVs, custom wood finishes, and more. Comfort and coastal style blend seamlessly, with shades of blue and brown enhancing thoughtful details like stylish wall hooks, decorative wall coverings, and unique bedside lamps.
The resort’s multi-million dollar transformation continues with plans to enhance ballrooms, meeting spaces, dining and retail facilities, outdoor areas, spa and more. Phase two is expected to be completed by May 2025 and will feature a new hot tub, an adult pool with private cabanas, a refreshing lobby bar, an expanded pool bar, a new poolside retail area and other exciting improvements.
Featuring 24 different room types, including deluxe rooms, executive suites, signature suites and fully accessible rooms, the resort caters to a variety of travelers and price points. The Presidential Suite, known as the Palmetto Suite, offers panoramic views of the lush tropical gardens from two private balconies. Natural light floods the spacious living area and lounge through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the full marble bathroom features a spa bath. The suite also includes a large dining table, a convenient wet bar and many luxurious amenities. VIP and suite guests are greeted with a custom embroidered hand towel upon arrival.
Nestled amidst the natural beauty of Hilton Head Island, this resort is surrounded by palm trees and vines, with hammocks and fireplaces scattered throughout the 11-acre resort. The resort’s U-shaped layout promotes tranquility, allowing all guest rooms to enjoy spacious, private balconies.
