Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has urged the central government to boost the tourism sector in the state.
He stressed the importance of increasing direct international flights and improving air connectivity from major Indian cities.
In a meeting with Indian Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Thursday, Khawti stressed the need to enhance international connectivity to attract a greater influx of foreign tourists.
The state also seeks to speed up the implementation of the central government’s scheme (Pilgrimage Renewal and Spirituality Enhancement Campaign) for the Church of Bom Jesus.
The tourism department believes this will greatly enhance the spiritual and cultural appeal of the state, especially in light of the upcoming exhibition of the relics of St. Francis Xavier.
Aligning Prashad’s scheme with the Expo will enrich the overall tourism experience in Goa, said a senior tourism department official.
Khawanti also sought central support to improve tourism infrastructure in Goa and promote the state globally.
The Federal Minister of Tourism has assured full cooperation to promote tourism initiatives and increase the number of tourists in the coastal state.
