The amazing Thailand Muay Thai Summer Camp 2024, held from July 16 to 28, offered an immersive two-week experience that combined Muay Thai training with cultural exploration. The highlight of the camp was the participation of honorary WBC champion Bridger Walker, famous for his heroic act at the age of six.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the World Boxing Council (WBC) MuayThai, EVA Air and See My Thailand travel agency, hosted the Amazing Thailand Muay Thai Summer Camp 2024. Held from July 16 to 28, the inaugural event combined intensive Muay Thai training with rich cultural experiences, providing participants with a truly immersive experience.
Participants honed their skills under the guidance of top Muay Thai coaches, who provided specialized training and rigorous coaching sessions. The camp was not limited to physical training, as participants were also introduced to Thailand’s vibrant culture through a series of engaging activities. Highlights included attending live Muay Thai matches at the famous Ratchadamnoen and Lumpini stadiums, exploring famous landmarks, and participating in the sacred Wai Kru ceremony in Ayutthaya, which culminated in a special certification ceremony. These experiences not only enhanced their appreciation for Muay Thai, but also deepened their connection to Thailand’s cultural heritage.
A key figure in the camp was Bridger Walker, the honorary WBC champion, who is globally recognized for his heroic act of saving his younger sister from a dog attack. Walker’s courage and passion for Muay Thai left a lasting impression on all participants, inspiring them to push their limits and embrace the sport with passion.
The camp attracted 50 young participants from the United States, ages 6-17, accompanied by their parents or guardians. The program provided a safe and nurturing environment for these children to develop their Muay Thai skills, build confidence, and experience the richness of Thai culture, all while fostering discipline and cultural awareness.
Thanks to the success of this event, TAT is exploring the possibility of expanding the summer camp to other regions. Future plans may include welcoming participants from Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. Marketing efforts are scheduled to begin in January, giving families ample time to prepare for the exciting opportunity next summer.
