Celebrity fashion designer Gok Wan has a rich history of fashion collaborations and his latest collaboration was as ambassador for British fashion label JD Williams.
Celebrating Jock’s 50th anniversary, the online fashion brand has chosen him for a partnership after a survey by the company revealed that 44% of the brand’s followers are “interested in receiving advice and guidance from experts.”
This survey also wanted customers to join them because they found him entertaining (55%), knowledgeable about his personal life (25%), relatable (16%), and generally interested in reading and watching content about TV celebrities (33%). Women surveyed also found the expert to be trendy (48%), stylish (45%), unique (44%), and inspiring (33%).
Its mission neatly aligns with J.D. Williams’ ongoing stance against “hiding” middle-aged women, which is to “help them embrace their style with confidence, and the vision is to work hand-in-hand with the in-house team,” the retailer says.
He will then support seasonal campaigns, style shoots, advise clients, participate in interviews, brand ads and more.
The partnership will also include a ‘money can’t buy’ competition where three customers will have the chance to win a makeover with Jock, plus £1,000 worth of fashion products in time for Christmas. In addition, they will win a night in a luxury London hotel and a meal to accompany.
“I am keen to get involved in helping women by providing them with the fashion advice they are looking for, especially ahead of the Christmas party season,” said Gok Wan. “There is so much information out there, so it is important that I provide honest, personal and authentic advice, which I know I can deliver.”
“He’s the perfect fit for this partnership – our research has shown that our target audience absolutely loves him, and he shares our passion for curating our customers through in-house designed fashion and products for them and their homes,” added Sarah Welsh, CEO of JD Williams Retail.
