Jimmy Choo has chosen a famous face to lead the marketing campaign for its fall/winter 2024 show, with Winona Ryder as the face of the Glamour Refined collection.
Captured in a series of still images and a short film, the campaign was conceived by Paris-based art directors Ezra Petronio and Lana Petrović of Petronio Associates. Petronio shot the campaign, which “evokes the minimalist style and re-set culture of the late 90s; as embodied by Winona – an icon, then and now.”
The 90s were definitely the height of Ryder’s fame when she starred in films like Edward Scissorhands to girl, countyBefore she took a break from acting, so she seems like a good choice for the campaign.
The timing is also good considering Ryder Beetlejuice The character, Lydia Cates, will be reprised in the new installment.
Creative Director Sandra Choi described her as “iconic in her style and representation. We were in our early 20s during the ’90s. Her films and aesthetic are emblematic of the decade that shaped the early years of the Jimmy Choo brand. I felt that Winona’s talent, combined with her individuality and ’90s legacy, was perfect to represent this collection.
“This collection is about exploring a distinctly British interpretation of feminine aesthetics. I remember that moment in the 1990s when different worlds collided – models, young business girls, society women, and it was also the moment when Jimmy Choo was born. There was a distinct simplicity, a classicism, but always with an element of eccentricity. It made it quintessentially British, and distinctly Jimmy Choo.”
The images show Ryder dressed in black against a plain white background, with the Jimmy Choo product prominently featured. Items on display include the bright red Scarlett 50 pumps and matching Cinch M bag, priced at £1,495. There’s also a black bucket bag and biker boots, among other items.
