H&M is teaming up with some big names for its fall launches – either big brands or big celebrities.
In the latter case, the company will kick off the global celebrations of its Fall/Winter 2024 collection with “a spectacular party in London. A multi-faceted celebration of music, fashion and individuality.” The event will include a special performance by Charli XCX and DJ sets by Jamie XX and Cheryl.
“In keeping with H&M’s spirit of inclusivity, the invitation will be open to all, with customers able to register for the chance to attend via social media and through member competitions,” the company said.
This comes as the season represents “a renewal of H&M’s fashion spirit. It is full of rich colours, interesting details and design-focused silhouettes.”
The collection will be available in select stores worldwide and online at hm.com from September 12, and the supporting campaign features “a cast of musicians, models and cultural leaders.”
The film was shot by photographer Sam Rock and directed by Albert Moya, and stars Charli XCX, Arca, Lila Moss, Agus Samuel, Loli Bahia, Wally Deutsch, Ok Kaya, Bebe Breslin, Aluya, Sage Elsesser, Seja Bodega, and Lux Gillespie.
As for the collection itself, we’re told that each piece brings together different stories and inspirations including “the timeless charm and diversity of mid-century design; the deep, sophisticated tones of wood and retro interiors; the enduring beauty of California movie women; and the cycle of styles across the decades: from the ’20s to the ’60s, and from the ’90s to now.”
The company said the mid-century mood is evident in the suits, including boxy jackets and miniskirts. There are “flashes of vintage luxury: beads and studs flow through knitwear, leather dresses and vintage mesh dresses. Leather and suede pieces add to the luxurious feel: these luxurious materials become like a second skin. Knitwear includes skirt suits in stretch wool and matching jackets and shorts that are must-haves. The color palette features a range of browns, from caramel to deep mahogany. Deep red and green add to the archival feel, while black and white serve as statement colors.”
Accessories include round-toe high-heeled shoes, studded flats and fur slip-ons. Bags are “chic and sexy.”
For men, the “classic, elegant mood, combined with luxury” means tailoring in shades of deep red or cool steel that “can be elevated with directional pieces, such as a cropped, mid-length leather jacket, or a polished tweed work jacket. The pieces combine utility and individuality – a core message in H&M’s philosophy of great fashion for everyone.”
Meanwhile, another H&M tie-up comes a little earlier with the kidswear retailer launching a collaboration with Reebok on August 29 just in time for the busy school days.
The Reebok x H&M collection “reimagines iconic sportswear pieces, taking design cues from the Reebok archives.”
Inspired by “the sporty aesthetics of the ’80s and ’90s,” the collection features boxy cuts, jersey collars, and vertical stripes and hems. “It blends sporty and prep aesthetics,” the company says. Standout pieces include a windbreaker inspired by the classic Reebok Vector Track jacket, as well as logoed T-shirts, varsity jackets and accessories.
