Mountain Warehouse has expanded its flagship store at Dalton Park Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Morton, County Durham.
As of this weekend (August 31), the reopened store has nearly tripled in size (from 1,800 square feet to 5,000 square feet) across two units and now features the retailer’s growing Animal brand.
Animal, the coastal lifestyle brand acquired three years ago, has become a hit with the retailer. The brand is said to appeal to “adrenaline seekers and free-spirited adventurers,” and offers organic cotton T-shirts and hoodies with the Animal logo.
As well as having a growing presence in Mountain Warehouse flagship stores, the company also has standalone stores in beach towns including Padstow, Falmouth and Bude, as well as stores opening soon in St Ives, Abersoch and Cromer.
“The acquisition of Animal has also helped us reach many new customers,” CEO Mark Neal said of the brand. “The brand is so beloved that we are revitalizing it for a new generation.”
For Global Mutual, owner and operator of Dalton Park, the store expansion “is in line with the shopping destination’s ongoing plans to expand its retail mix by offering top-tier brands that meet the diverse needs of its customer base.”
“The opening of Animal at Dalton Park is in line with our plans to strengthen our offering across the sports, lifestyle and beach categories,” added Nicky Lovell, Head of Retail and Business Development at Global Mutual.
“Animal’s commitment to sustainability and quality aligns with current consumer trends, and we are confident that this will lead to increased visitor numbers and increased stay time at the centre.”
