Vietnam Airlines recently acquired its first Airbus A320neo, marking the start of three deliveries of the type scheduled for this year. The acquisition is particularly significant amid a global shortage of aircraft availability, exacerbated by engine recalls.
The new Airbus A320neo is equipped with advanced engines that deliver significant improvements: 16% better fuel efficiency, 75% less noise and half the emissions compared to older models.
The aircraft features 182 seats in a two-class configuration – eight in Business Class and 174 in Economy Class – and features enhanced comfort features including high-quality upholstery, 28-29-inch seat pitch, five-inch recline and an advanced wireless in-flight entertainment system. These enhancements are designed to enhance the travel experience while maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability.
The deployment of the A320neo underscores Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing its operational capabilities to meet the increased travel demand during the summer. The aircraft will primarily operate on domestic routes, including routes from Hanoi to Dalat and Phu Quoc, as well as from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa and Chu Lai.
The new A320neo aircraft are expected to add around 40,000 seats during peak times this summer, and provide an additional 300,000 seats in the second half of the year.
Furthermore, Vietnam Airlines is preparing to further expand its fleet with the arrival of new Boeing 787-10 aircraft, the largest aircraft in the Dreamliner series and an important addition to the airline’s aircraft lineup.
In its continuous pursuit of raising service standards and fleet quality, Vietnam Airlines aims to enhance passenger comfort and convenience at all touch points of the travel experience.
As the national airline of Vietnam and a proud member of the SkyTeam alliance, Vietnam Airlines connects an extensive network of 100 routes covering 21 domestic and 29 international destinations, connecting Vietnam to some of the world’s most important markets.
