Protea Hotels by Marriott opens its doors in Angola with a new property in Pretoria, strengthening its presence in Africa’s vibrant hospitality scene.
In a nod to its four-decade legacy, Protea Hotels by Marriott has expanded its footprint with the opening of its first property in Angola and a new addition in Pretoria, South Africa. These latest expansions, named Protea by Marriott Luanda and Protea by Marriott Pretoria Hatfield, promise to enrich both business and leisure travel. Guests can look forward to immersing themselves in local cultures, enjoying warm hospitality and experiencing first-class accommodations equipped with modern amenities and impeccable service.
Since its founding in July 1984, Protea Hotels by Marriott has grown significantly. From its initial collection of four hotels in South Africa, it now boasts over 60 hotels spread across South Africa and eight other African countries, including Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and most recently Angola. This extensive presence in both major business hubs and sought-after tourist locations ensures that Protea Hotels by Marriott is a preferred choice for those exploring Africa’s diverse landscape.
Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President, Luxury and Select Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International, said:“This month we celebrate four decades of exceptional service and authentic African hospitality. What better way to celebrate this occasion than to further the legacy of Protea Hotels with the opening of our first hotel in Angola and the continued expansion of the brand into South Africa. Both hotels will combine contemporary comfort with a deep appreciation of local culture and heritage, offering guests a unique and enriching stay.”
