The Macau Government Tourism Office recently concluded its highly successful Experience Macao showcase in Malaysia, which was held from 5 to 8 July at the Blue Concourse of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur. The four-day event showcased Macau’s vibrant tourism offerings with a focus on collaborative “Tourism+” initiatives alongside the local travel trade and Malaysian tourism operators.
The roadshow attracted a massive crowd of 268,000 over the extended weekend, underscoring Macau’s position as Malaysia’s fourth largest international visitor market. In partnership with the Guangdong-Macao Deep-Sea Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau in Hengqin and Macau Integrated Resort Establishments, the event featured themed booths, interactive games and exclusive travel offers.
Attendees were treated to captivating performances by artists from Malaysia and Macau, as well as dynamic dance and magic shows. Interactive activities such as prize games and stamp collecting added to the festive atmosphere, with daily grand raffles offering enticing rewards such as flight tickets, hotel stays and spa treatments.
In addition to the fun on-site activities, MGTO also facilitated fruitful business discussions during the “Macau Tourism Product Updates + MICE and Travel Market Seminar”, which brought together over 110 industry leaders from Macau and Malaysia. The forum aimed to foster partnerships in attracting both leisure travelers and those attending MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) events.
To boost its impact, MGTO deployed a robust promotional strategy that included social media, local TV, radio, newspapers and various online platforms. Collaborations with Malaysian celebrities and influencers also boosted Macau’s visibility, resulting in an impressive cumulative impression of 31.20 million views by the end of the promotional tour.
With a strategic focus on international markets and enhanced air connectivity, MGTO remains committed to expanding its reach across short-haul destinations. Events such as the Malaysia Tour play a pivotal role in MGTO’s overall mission to diversify Macau’s tourism landscape and enhance regional cooperation, closely aligned with the Macau SAR Government’s economic development strategies.
In the future, the Macau Tourism Authority will continue to integrate innovative “Tourism+” initiatives, expand market diversity, and enhance Macau’s position as a leading global destination through ongoing initiatives and strategic partnerships.
