Construction workers taking on month-long projects, traveling nurses exploring new cities, and digital nomads enjoying work-from-anywhere policies have a new home away from home. ECHO Suites Extended StaySM by Wyndham has just opened its first location, ECHO Suites Spartanburg, in South Carolina.
This opening marks a significant milestone for the brand, expanding its development pipeline to nearly 270 hotels and more than 33,000 rooms across the United States and Canada. With infrastructure projects expected to increase nationwide over the next decade, more ECHO Suites hotels are set to open in Texas and Virginia this year.
“Spartanburg, like many other cities across the country, is experiencing a boom in projects that require long-term, comfortable, and affordable accommodations. ECHO Suites is the perfect solution, with a well-designed prototype designed with the operator in mind. Plus, when you add in the collaboration with the world’s largest hotel franchise, it’s a perfect match.”
Philip Cox, Owner, Eco Suites Spartanburg
The launch of ECHO Suites coincides with historic infrastructure investments across the United States, including $1.2 trillion from the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021, the largest in the nation’s history, and $280 billion from the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, which is fueling new chip manufacturing plants. These projects create significant opportunities for Wyndham and business travelers, particularly construction and trade workers who need long-term accommodations. This infrastructure boost is expected to drive $3.3 billion in room revenue for Wyndham franchisees over several years.
The all-new, custom-designed, 124-room ECHO Suites prototype hotel requires less than two acres and has a competitive cost per key. Spanning nearly 50,000 square feet, the prototype is designed to generate 79% of its revenue from leasable space. Rooms include single and double studio suites with kitchens, and the public spaces—the lobby, fitness center and 24/7 guest laundry—are designed to minimize labor needs.
