Introducing ECHO Suites Extended StaySM by Wyndham, the new home away from home for construction workers, traveling nurses, and digital nomads, with its premier location in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Construction workers embarking on month-long projects, traveling nurses exploring new cities for longer stays, and digital nomads embracing flexible work policies now have a new option for staying away from home with ECHO Suites Extended StaySM by Wyndham. The brand celebrated the grand opening of its inaugural location, ECHO Suites Spartanburg in South Carolina.
This opening marks a significant milestone for ECHO Suites, which has expanded its development pipeline to nearly 270 hotels and more than 33,000 rooms across the United States and Canada. Additional ECHO Suites hotels are slated to launch in Texas and Virginia later this year, in line with the expected surge in infrastructure projects nationwide over the next decade.
“Spartanburg, like many other cities across the country, is experiencing a boom in projects that require long-term, comfortable, and affordable accommodations. ECHO Suites is the perfect solution, with a well-designed prototype designed with the operator in mind. Plus, when you add in the collaboration with the world’s largest hotel franchise, it’s a perfect match.” – Philip Cox, Owner of ECHO Suites Spartanburg
Serving travelers today efficiently
The launch of ECHO Suites aligns with massive infrastructure investments in the United States, including $1.2 trillion allocated through the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021—the largest in U.S. history. Additionally, the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 provides $280 billion to incentivize the construction of new chip manufacturing plants nationwide.
These initiatives provide significant momentum for Wyndham and everyday business travelers, especially construction and trade professionals looking for long-term accommodations while working on projects across the country. This increase is expected to generate an estimated $3.3 billion in additional room revenue for Wyndham franchisees over the coming years.
The purpose-built ECHO Suites prototype features 124 rooms on less than two acres of land, offering a highly competitive cost per key. Spanning nearly 50,000 square feet, the design maximizes revenue-generating space with single and double studio suites with kitchens. Efficiently designed public areas—including a lobby, fitness center and 24/7 guest laundry—minimize operational requirements.
Continued investment in long-stay offerings
Further underscoring its commitment to the thriving extended stay segment, Wyndham has appointed Mandeep Singh as Vice President, Extended Stay Operations. With over two decades of global experience in extended stay hotels, corporate housing, serviced apartments and multifamily properties, Mandeep will oversee Wyndham’s expanding portfolio, with a focus on ECHO Suites and the new Waterwalk Extended Stays by Wyndham brand.
“There is tremendous potential in the extended stay segment, and the opening of our first ECHO Suites property in Spartanburg is an exciting example of the brand’s success in providing this opportunity to its owners. With the addition of Mandeep Singh, we are further strengthening our commitment to our ‘owner first’ philosophy as we continue to grow ECHO Suites hotels to meet the needs of today’s guests.” Krishna PaliwalCEO of Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham and President of Architecture, Design and Construction at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts
Along with the launch of ECHO Suites in Spartanburg, the brand aims to reach a milestone of 75 hotels open or under construction by the end of 2026, with a goal of 300 hotels in operation by 2032.
